Study Group supports UK India educational ties at India Week conference in Oxford
Study Group was pleased to join representatives from Indian universities and senior leaders from a number of its UK partners to mark India Week.
Speakers at the event taking place this week in London and Oxford include university and business leaders from the UK and India, as well as ministers for international trade and commerce and senior politicians from both countries.
The Oxford conference focused on the development of the UK and Indian Higher Education sectors, along with opportunities for future collaboration. Panel members from Universities UK International, the UK India Business Council and the British Council India engaged with higher education leaders from both countries to address shared opportunities and challenges.
At a formal awards dinner in Oxford Town Hall, Study Group Board Member Sir Keith Burnett joined Dean of the Business School at the University of Sussex Professor Steven McGuire in support of keynote speaker on the value of higher education Naimat Zafary - an Afghan Chevening Scholar 2021-22 and now PhD student at the University of Sussex. The event was also attended by Study Group Executive Director of External Affairs Ruth Arnold who is also an advisor to the National Indian Students and Alumni Union and who was involved in the efforts to support Afghan scholars coming to the UK, including Naimat Zafary.
India Week culminates with an event in the UK Parliament on 11 May to include ministers from India and the UK.
