Study Group partners see success in 2024 rankings

Students on their graduation day

Study Group’s UK partners all feature in The Guardian University Guide 2024 and a new University Ranking published by the Daily Mail based on a compilation of existing nationwide data. Strong performance across the board reflects the breadth of study opportunities available in England, Scotland and Wales.

Durham University (7), a member of the prestigious Russell Group of universities, University of Aberdeen (12), a research-intensive university with a history of academic excellence, and University of Strathclyde (16), an innovative university based in Glasgow, Scotland’s second largest city, maintain their respected top 20 positions in The Guardian University Guide. Placing top in the UK for medicine, University of Aberdeen receives further recognition from The Guardian.

The University of Sheffield (21), a Russell Group university internationally respected for its research excellence, climbs nine places to share a spot with the University of Surrey (21). Also a Russell Group member, the University of Leeds secured 27th place. In the capital city of Wales, Cardiff University (29) — fellow elite Russell Group member — crosses into the top 30, rising six places.

Turning to Study Group’s modern university partners, which offer scholars a wide range of contemporary programmes and degrees, including in emerging fields like technology and business, Liverpool John Moores University (57) jumps a significant 30 places, and seven of Kingston University’s (58) subjects feature in The Guardian’s top 10 subject rankings.

University of Oxford (2) and Imperial College London (5), each partners of insendi, a Study Group company, achieve over all top 10 spots retaining their rankings from last year.

All Study Group Digital Learning partners, where students of our online pathway programmes can progress, place in the Guardian’s top 50% of UK institutions.

The inaugural Daily Mail University Rankings also feature Study Group partners, notably University of Strathclyde as Scottish University of the Year and ranked 8 across the UK, and insendi partners Imperial College London and the University of Oxford at 1 and 2 respectively.

Dr Mark Cunnington, Study Group’s Managing Director, University Partnerships says:

“From research-based study at world-class institutions to vocational degrees at modern universities, the UK offers transformative study grounded in centuries of academic excellence. We are proud to partner with a wide range of respected universities where international students can achieve goals. A British university education can open the door to a range of career opportunities, and graduates can stay in the UK for employment with post-study work rights.”

The Guardian and the Daily Mail university guides are compiled using a series of indicators including student satisfaction, staff numbers, university spending and career prospects. Weighting various elements of higher education in different ways results in distinct rankings - just one of many tools and metrics students can use as guides while considering which university is right for them.
