Leeds International Study Centre

On Tuesday 25 November, the Leeds International Study Centre (ISC) for progression to the University of Leeds was formally opened by Councillor James Lewis, Leader of Leeds City Council. A panel discussion, comprising representatives of the University of Leeds, Leeds City Council, Study Group and the Northern Powerhouse Partnership discussed the positive contributions made by international students and the many benefits they bring to Leeds and Yorkshire.  New data released from Study Group demonstrates their students contributing over £1.2billion to the region between 2019 and 2024. The new state-of-the-art facility will continue to deliver teaching excellence in Leeds with the most recent progression statistics showing that 93% of students in the 2024–25 academic year were eligible for progression to the University of Leeds.

Professor Hai-Sui Yu, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Leeds, commented: "International students play a vital role in shaping our university community and the wider region. The new International Study Centre strengthens our shared mission to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where students from around the world can thrive."

University of Huddersfield - London

On Thursday 27 November, Study Group and the University of Huddersfield celebrated the official opening of the University of Huddersfield – London campus. Hosted at the new campus in Sugar House Island, the event brought together higher education leaders, students and sector partners to mark the launch of Study Group’s first managed campus in the UK capital which welcomed over 400 postgraduate students in its inaugural September intake.

The event featured a keynote address from Professor Beverley Gibbs of The Dyson Institute, followed by speeches from Professor Bob Cryan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, and Ian Crichton, Study Group CEO. The campus currently offers a suite of business-focused postgraduate degrees, with undergraduate and additional postgraduate programmes expanding from 2026.

A recent report, Global City, Global Talent, highlights that international graduates are critical to London’s competitiveness with 90% of business leaders saying it is essential to their business.  London’s global economy relies on international skills to plug gaps in high-growth sectors and limits on student or graduate visa risk undermining this advantage.  This new University of Huddersfield – London campus directly responds to this challenge – helping international students transition into the workplace and supporting London’s position as a global hub.

Professor Bob Cryan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, added:

"Establishing a presence in London marks a new chapter for our university and our partnership with Study Group. We are proud to offer international students the chance to study in a campus built around employability, ambition and collaboration in one of one of the world’s most dynamic cities."

The two launch events follow a series of major announcements for Study Group including a new partnership with the New Jersey Institute of Technology - a U.S. top 100 institution - as well as  expansion into Singapore and the return of the historic Bellerbys brand to the UK through a new partnership with Twin Group.

Ian Crichton, CEO of Study Group, said:

"These launches mark an important moment for our organisation and for the students we educate. We are committed to creating outstanding learning environments that connect talent from around the world with opportunity. Expanding our work across more stages of education allows us to reach students earlier and support them for longer. By broadening our offer, we can play a more active role in shaping the future of international education and help universities build sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive landscape"
