Who is Extended Progression Support for?
Extended Progression Support is available for any student who passes their Study Group pathway programme but hasn’t achieved the required results to progress to their university of choice.
Are there any additional costs?
The service is free and available to all students on a Study Group programme at no extra cost.

What options are available?
Our staff will guide you through your options and which progression route is best for you.
Depending on your circumstances, there are four possible options:
- Study one of our International Year One or Two programmes
- Repeat your course at your current International Study Centre
- Repeat your course at another International Study Centre
- Discover alternative undergraduate or postgraduate study options at another university.
International Year One
If you are an International Foundation Year student who has just missed out on achieving the progression requirements for your chosen undergraduate degree, you may be able to join an International Year One programme or International Year Two Programme.
This course allows you to study the first year of your undergraduate degree, while continuing to receive the support and study opportunities of the International Study Centre. On completion of this programme, you will progress to the second year of an undergraduate degree at the partner university.
Approval to this course is subject to meeting entry requirements and visa time limits.
International Year Two
This programme is available at two of our International Study Centres in Scotland: The University of Aberdeen International Study Centre and the University of Strathclyde International Study Centre. Successful completion of this programme provides you with entry to the third year of a four-year degree at one of these two universities.
Approval to this course is subject to meeting entry requirements and visa time limits.
This option is ideal if you wish to repeat your programme and progress to your original university of choice. This would mean you would start your programme again from the beginning.
The Director of Campus Operations at your International Study Centre will need to approve the repeat of your course, as visa compliance rules and visa time limits will need to be considered.
If you cannot, or do not wish to repeat the course at the same International Study Centre, we may be able to offer a suitable alternative (with the same or similar progression options) at one of our other International Study Centres or Colleges. The Director of Campus Operations at the International Study Centre will need to approve the repeat of your course; visa compliance rules and visa time limits will also need to be considered.
You may be able to apply directly to another university if you meet the entry requirements. Our team will help you explore suitable options and support you through the application process. The options available will depend on your grades.
